RICO DE POTOSI

You will visit one of the oldest mines in the Cerro Rico of Potosí
that dates of the time of the colony (XVI - XVII centuries). Where
you will observe the different galleries, poteos, stone domes, chimneys,
ore bins and piquecaminos worked by the first Quechua slaves.
You will be able to know the two ways of work: manual and automated
that the mining workers carry out in their long and sacrificed task
of every day. Also to experience the environmental conditions where
the miner works, this way for example: the intensity of smoke of
the explosion of the dynamite.
You will be able to travel for 2 Km in interior mines and to descend
4 at 6 levels from 15 to 20 m. until arriving to the heart of the
Cerro Rico of Potosí.
You will see the exploitation of the different minerals closely:
silver, zinc, lead, tin and others.
You will participate for example of the customs and beliefs that
have the mining workers,: "the Ch'alla" (toast) with alcohol,
coca leaves and cigarettes carried out in honor to the Tata Ckacchu"
(the miners' god); "eL tio" (devil) owner of the silver.
You will also be able to observe in the mine entrance it bleeds
spilled of the llama, which means a tradition in honor to the Pachamama
(Mother land).
It includes: Private transport, safety equipment (hardhat,
jacket, pant, typical or electric lamp and boots), entrance ticket,
coca tea and specialized bilingual guides.
